2014-04-03 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2729 Minutes

April 11, 2014

Minutes for Meeting 2729, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, April
3, 2014

A warm welcome to our esteemed guest John Sabado. We hope you’ll join our
Helmsmen Club.

Welcome to our guest, Naomi Carrington. Naomi is a member of Great
Communicators at the Mark Center and has taken Ralph Jones our District
Governor and Herman Raybon our Area Governor advice to heart by visiting
other clubs in the area to observe, experience, and learn.

Welcome and Congratulations to our newest member, Trudie Root. Trudie was a
Helmsmen TM in 2010, and we are happy to have you back!

Congratulations Ernie Davis! Ernie was inducted to Helmsmen Toastmasters
today. Happy Speaking!

Congratulate Annette Sanks and Jill Shanteau for a successful membership
drive in the food court! Annette and Jill said “Good Morning!” to anyone
who slowed-down or stopped to see what we were doing and then asked if the
observer is familiar with Toastmasters — a friendly opening to initiate
communication — a model of best practice to follow in public speaking.

Business:

1. We will be electing new officers for the next 6 month term (July-December
2014). If you are interested in holding an officer position, please contact
Damien or anyone of the current officers.

met the goal for President’s Distinguished for the 2013-2014 Toastmasters

Congratulate our club members who competed in the Area contest. They
represented our club well and many Helmsmen were there to support Jill and
Yash.

place!

— Yash Sinha participated in the International Speech Contest and won 3rd
Place!
