2. The Area 11 Contest is scheduled to be held 2 April 2020. The contest

Congratulations to Helmsmen for conducting its first online Toastmaster’s meeting! Thanks to Aundrea Veney for introducing “Zoom” conferencing to us!

Guests: None

Club Business:
1. In lieu of the current health situation, we will conduct TM meetings online. Invite! Invite!
2. The Area 11 Contest is tentatively scheduled to be held 2 April 2020. The contest will be held online using the “Go to Meeting” app. Kim Winborne will send out more information soon concerning the contest.
3. Club Dues: March is dues month. We ask that you please pay your $50 ($45 to Toastmasters International and $5 to Helmsmen club for ribbons, ballot sheets, etc.) by the end of March, even though TM International has extended the deadline to end of month April. Treasurer Carl Sabath will contact those 7 persons who have not paid. Helmsmen did meet its goal of “on time” payment due to those who have already paid.
4. Club Status Report: We are on track to get Distinguished Club, but let’s strive to by the end of July 2020 to be a Select Distinguished Club.

Club Business:
1. In lieu of the current health situation, we are suspending handshakes when coming to the lectern. Fist/Elbow bunts can be done.
2. Helmsmen is sponsoring March Madness for the entire month of March. Invite, Invite!
3. Sign up for the role you wish to fill in upcoming Helmsmen TM meetings.
4. Club Status Report: We are on track to get Distinguished Club, but let’s strive to by the end of July 2020 to be a Select Distinguished Club.
5. The Area 11 Contest is on March 19th, 5:15 p.m., Pentagon first floor food court by the ramp near the Dunkin Donuts. We are asking Helmsmen to come out and support this contest.

1. Yesterday was the 63rd anniversary of Helmsmen Toastmasters, which was founded 4 March 1957. Happy Birthday, Helmsmen!
2. Helmsmen is sponsoring March Madness for the entire month of March. Invite, Invite!
3. Club Status Report: The online status is not yet updated. We are on track to get Distinguished Club, but let’s strive to by the end of July 2020 to be a Select Distinguished Club.
4. The Area 11 Contest is on March 19th, 5:15 p.m., Pentagon first floor food court by the ramp near the Dunkin Donuts. We are asking Helmsmen to come out and support this contest. The model speaker will be from another club, and the word is out that club will bring guests. So Helmsmen, show up!

1. March 19th is the Area 11 Contest. Today’s First Place Winner will advance to the Area Contest on March 19th, 5:15 p.m., Pentagon first floor food court by the ramp near the Dunkin Donuts. 1. The Executive Committee met 19 February and decided to host a “March Madness” campaign. Guests who attend March meetings will receive give-a-ways based upon the number of meetings that they attend in March. Coupons with the information were given to members to hand out. An electronic version is available if more coupons are needed. Give-a-ways: 1st MTG: Candy. 2nd: TM Lanyard. 3rd/4th: Gift Card or TM Items/ paraphernalia, e.g., books, license plates, food
2. Members should receive an email from Treasurer Carl Sabath. Semi-annual dues are due by 3/31/2020. Dues are $50.

4. Meeting Duration Change.
– Madame President initiated a discussion to shorten meeting duration from 1:45 minutes to 1 hour. Members’ input/opinions were solicited and received. A quorum was acknowledged; all officers except one was present. The motion was made, then seconded to shorten the meeting duration from 1:45 minutes to 1 hour starting 20 February 2020. The vote was taken. The outcome is to have Helmsmen Toastmasters meetings from 7:30 am to 8:30 am starting 20 February. There is no change to the day of the week for the meetings (Thursday).
