3. New officers needed for Jul 1 – Dec 31, as President Raybon announced — Toward the end of the email, please find a summary of officer duties.

We are looking for President, VP-Education, VP-Membership, VP-Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer and Sgt at Arms.

The office does require 2 hours of TM Leadership institute training that is scheduled in different places in the NCR during June-August.
The term of office is 6 months, July 1 – December 31.

2. Toastmasters International Conference signup – pick and choose what you would like to attend at the following site for Convention Information for Chicago in August 22-25: toastmasters.org.

Maintain club member roster (this includes contact information at TI)
Keep club files, including the club charter, Constitution and addendum minutes, resolutions, and correspondence.
Ensure the Officer List is submitted online to TI soon after elections and in time so new officers can attend TLI. All
elections are held the first meeting in May for the coming July term.

Maintain a club website
Work with the VP Membership to organize membership drives throughout the year
Prepare monthly newsletter AND organize socials!!

Better retention: Serve as a motivator. Know the needs of the members.
Increase membership: Conduct ongoing membership programs. Know the District INCENTIVES!
Nurture relationships: Remember the value of warmly greeting and welcoming guests to meetings; introduce guest

Set up orientation/mentorship program for your new club members. Set goals soon after they join.

Submit Educational Awards promptly to TI on Club Central
Schedule educational sessions from the Better Speaker Series, the Successful Club Series, and the Leadership Excellence Series, Successful/Communication; Successful/Leadership series. Know the District INCENTIVES!

Preside over meetings, ensure VP Ed takes over when absent. Do not cancel meetings!
Motivate your team of officers to become better leaders. Constantly look for successors.
Promote educational awards and provide recognition. Ensure the club achieves DCP status.
Be the spark of the meeting. You give the tone to the meeting from the start!
Oversee the administrative operation of the club. Know the District/TM INCENTIVES!
Chair Monthly Executive committee meetings. Share DCP Club Goals with the membership.

Congratulations to Yash Sinha, who placed 2nd in the Area 11 Evaluation Contest and 3rd in the International Speech Contest!

Congratulations to Randy Estrella for being our Toastmaster of the Day today with his theme “Habits” and expanding on Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Business:

1. SAVE THE DATES: Speech Contest Time! Just a few save the dates for the Spring Evaluation and International Speech Contests: Apr 19th (Division A Contest) and weekend of May 4th & 5th (District 27 Contest). 2. Club Dues! Thanks everyone for paying dues. We have a few folks to reach out to but really appreciate your assistance.

Randy requests that you provide your Facebook username or email to start adding you to the Facebook page. First Randy will send you a request to friend you and then he’ll be able to add you to the group. Also, due to the fact that there is also another Helmsmen Club in Texas, the group name will have to have a different one to prevent confusion. Here are some suggestions, Helmsmen Pentagon Toastmasters, Helmsmen DC Toastmasters, Helmsmen DC Toastmasters Club 2412 or Helmsmen Pentagon Toastmasters Club 2412. Please send Randy an email to see which one you like the most and/or if you have any other suggestions.
