Please see below the minutes for Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2997, Thursday 17 October 2019.

With the theme, “Doing Things Differently”

What a great theme! Do things differently…successful people do things differently. Carl highlighted multiple ways we can do things differently…all geared toward making one grow, stepping out of comfort zones, balancing life events, helping others. Success is getting out of life what YOU WANT out of life.

Club Business:
1. The Area Context will be October 24th at 5:30pm. This contest will lead up to the Division contest. There is no district contest this fall.
What: Area Contest. Categories are Humorous Speech and Table Topics


When: 24 October 2019 at 5:30pm
Where: Pentagon, First Floor Food Court behind the Duncan Donuts area
Who: You!!!! Contact Elizabeth Femrite if you wish to compete. ***Prepare to speak next week your humorous speech and/or Table Topics as prep for the contest!!

*******Kim Winborne, Area Director, asks for Helmsmen to volunteer to fill roles at the Division Contest!!!*******

2. Calling All Helmsmen: Speak up like a Helmsmen and invite, invite, invite others to attend a Helmsmen TM meeting. See the attached flyer. Print out several of them. When you are standing in line getting coffee, ask someone if they have heard about Toastmasters. If they say “yes”, hand them a flyer. If they say “no”, hand them a flyer. Invite, invite, invite.
3. Emphasis was made on current Helmsmen prioritizing the meeting and attending. Helmsmen TM is 62 years old…Let’s keep it alive and lively!
4. Note: The email distribution list is updated to remove names of those who have transitioned away from the Pentagon.
