Minutes for Meeting 2921, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday March 22, 2018

Congratulate to Herman Raybon, Randy Estrella and Carl Sabath for attending today despite the weather.

1. Speech Contest Time! The International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest is next week on March 29, 2018 and Herman Raybon is the Contest Master. He will need help and support to make the contest a success.

The winner of each contest competes in the Area 11 contest on 4 April, and then to Division A competition April 19, 2018. If you have questions, contact the Contest Master or one of the club officers.

2. Club Dues! Please bring your dues to the meeting or make arrangements to pay Carl Sabath, club treasurer. Membership Dues of $50 for current members is due in March for the April-September 2018 period. We want to ensure we meet our club goal to submit dues to on time. During the March 29th meeting or between meetings you can also provide your dues to Elizabeth Femrite or Herman Raybon.

Due to the weather, Randy Estrella led a discussion with Herman Raybon and Carl Sabath about the club’s social media presence – see below

4: Please assist Randy Estrella, our VP-Public Relations in increasing our social media presence

He requests that you provide your Facebook username or email to start
adding you to the Facebook page. First Randy will send you a request to friend you
and then he’ll be able to add you to the group.

Also, due to the fact that there is also another Helmsmen Club in Texas, the
group name will have to have a different one to prevent confusion. Here are some
suggestions, Helmsmen Pentagon Toastmasters, Helmsmen DC Toastmasters,
Helmsmen DC Toastmasters Club 2412 or Helmsmen Pentagon Toastmasters Club
2412. Please send Randy an email to see which one you like the most and/or if
you have any other suggestions.

He looks forward to your responses as well as your Facebook username.

Also – If you need help creating a Facebook page and/or take selfies to post
them, please let Randy know.

Reminder, you may still be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes. Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in! You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for Helmsmen Toastmasters Club

Happy Speaking!!
