Welcome back Andrea Clark!

Business:

1. Area 11 Contests will be held Tuesday, September 27, SAF/FM Conference, 4E983; contest start is 6pm, be there by 5:15pm.
9/27 – Forté Ward, Area Director will be hosting the Area 11 Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests.
Come support Audrey Britton and Kimberly Pollard at the Area 11 Contests.

2. Toastmaster of the Day for our next meeting 2850, Thursday, September 29th, Toastmaster will be Ernie Davis

3. We need your ideas to expand membership, please contact VP Membership Kimberly Winborne with any suggestions.

3. Dues is Due for Oct 2016-Mar 2017 Semester! Coming down to the wire!

Thanks to everyone who has already paid their dues!

In February 2016, TM International decided to increase its dues, to start in the Fall of 2016, from $36 to $45. Total dues will consist of International dues ($45) plus Club dues ($5) for a total of $50. If you joined Helmsmen Toastmasters after March 2016, the dues you paid covered the time period from when you joined through September 2016; THIS current dues renewal notice will cover your membership from October 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017.

Treasurer, Carl Sabath has started collecting dues!

We are now registered with PayPal and for an additional $2 processing fee, you can pay your dues by credit card. As always, cash, money orders and checks are still accepted. Money orders and checks should be made payable to Helmsmen Toastmasters.

As Carl is in the Mark Center, you can also provide your dues to other temporarily “deputized” treasurers 🙂 At the Pentagon — Elizabeth Femrite and Herman Raybon, Jr. — if you can’t attend Thursday’s meeting.

4. Contests continue!

11/12 – District 27 Conference will host the Division A Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests. See d27tm.org for additional details.

5. New Officers needed for January – June 2017

Get your leadership skills refined! Speak to our nominating chair, current Area 11 Governor and Immediate Past President Forte Ward.
Toastmasters Leadership Institute available starting in December going through February.

6. TMoD Schedule. Please contact our VP-Education, Lillian Wilkerson to
sign up for future Toastmaster of the Day roles. If you have an issue
with the schedule please try to switch with another TM or call Elizabeth.

Reminder, you may still be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes. Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in! You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.
