Thank you to our guests, Eduardo Zayas Sanchez and Enjoli Ramsey, for
joining us today!

Business:

1. Toastmaster of the Day for our next meeting 2845, Thursday, August 25th
is Jerrick Alexander. The theme is TBD. Please use Easy Speak @
http://easy-speak.org or contact Steve to volunteer for a role. Some are
experiencing issues accessing Easy Speak from their work computers. You may
have to use Google Chrome or Firefox. If you continue to experience issues,
please contact the VPE, Lillian Wilkinson.

2. Officer Training – Officers need to attend 2 hours of training, which
can be in any District. At registration, to obtain leadership credit,
please provide your name, office held, club name (Pentagon Legacy TM), club
number (2412), district (27). You do not need to be an officer to attend
training. Training is free. A small donation/contribution is suggested
for snacks that may be provided. Go to d27tm.org for further training

3. We need your ideas to expand membership, please contact VP Membership
Kimberly Winborne with any suggestions.

4. In February 2016, TM International decided to increase its dues, to
start in the Fall of 2016, from $36 to $45. Please see the attached letter
from the now Immediate Past International President of Toastmasters
International regarding the dues increase. Total dues will consist of
International dues ($45) plus Club dues ($5) for a total of $50. If you
joined Helmsmen Toastmasters after March 2016, the dues you paid covered
the time period from when you joined through September 2016; THIS current
dues renewal notice will cover your membership from October 1, 2016 – March
31, 2017.

Treasurer, Carl Sabath will begin collecting dues the week of August 22nd.
We are now registered with PayPal and for an additional $2 processing fee,
you can pay your dues by credit card. As always, cash, money orders and
checks are still accepted. Money orders and checks should be made payable
to Helmsmen Toastmasters.

5. TM International Convention, August 17-20, Marquis Hotel, Washington,
DC. Daily package registration is still available at

6. TMoD Schedule. Please contact our VP-Education, Lillian Wilkerson to
sign up for future Toastmaster of the Day roles. If you have an issue
with the schedule please try to switch with another TM or call Elizabeth.

change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the
Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in! You can
get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table Topics
Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
