Helmsmen Toastmasters Club Meeting 2841 – 28 July 2016 Minutes

Please congratulate Forté Ward, as the TM of the Day with the theme-“Drama”

Forté creatively taught the club about using Improvisation. Well done!


1. Toastmaster of the Day for our next meeting 2842, Thursday, August 4th is Nekisha Tate, with theme, TBD. Contact Nekisha to volunteer for a role. (VP-E is confirming Nekisha’s role for next week.)

2. Officer Training – These are the training sessions announced so far. Officers need to attend 2 hours of training, which can be in any District. At registration, to obtain leadership credit, please provide your name, office held, club name (Pentagon Legacy TM), club number (2412), district (27). You do not need to be an officer to attend training. Training is free. A small donation/contribution is suggested for snacks that may be provided. Go to for further training information.

3. Membership. We need your ideas to expand membership, perhaps make some phone calls to interested folks, create/place some flyers in designated areas. Let us know.

4. Kelly Sargeant, (, who came in 3rd at the World Championship of Public Speaking in 2014, will be at the Pentagon on August 16, 2016. She will be giving a presentation on her journey to the International competition. There is also an event planned with Kelly during the evening of August 16th at the Crowne Plaza National Airport in Crystal City. More details to follow. POC: Herman Raybon. 5. TM International Convention, August 17-20, Marquis Hotel, Washington, DC. Registration is now open at Sign Up!

6. TMoD Schedule. Please contact our VP-Education, Elizabeth Femrite to sign up for future Toastmaster of the Day roles. If you have an issue with the schedule please try to switch with another TM or call Elizabeth.

Reminder, you may still be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes. Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in! You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.
