Helmsmen Toastmasters Club Meeting 2826 – 14 April 2016 Minutes

Thank you to our guests Audrey Britton Carrie Devorah and Tyler Terrel, for
joining us today!

Business:

1. Next week, Thursday, April 21st, Nekisha Tate will be our TM of the Day!
Her theme is TBD. Let Nekisha know if you wish to speak or volunteer for a
role. If you prefer to use Easy-Speak, please identify your role as soon as
possible to assist with the agenda preparation at helmsmen.easy-speak.org

2. District 27 Conference to be held May 6-7, Holiday Inn, Solomons, MD.
Register at d27tm.org.

3. End of May/early June. Officer Elections. Start thinking about being
an officer for July 1 – December 31. Great leadership experience can be
yours.

4. Kelly Sargeant, (www.kellysargeant.com), who came in 3rd at the World
Championship of Public Speaking in 2014, will be at the Pentagon on August
16, 2016. She will be giving a presentation on her journey to the
International competition. There is also an event planned with Kelly during
the evening of August 16th at the Crowne Plaza National Airport in Crystal
City. More details to follow. POC: Herman Raybon

5. TM International Convention, August 17-20, Marquis Hotel, Washington,
DC. Registration will start in April.

**If the date to be TMoD does not work with your schedule, please swap with
another toastmaster and let our VP-Education, Elizabeth Femrite know.

8. Dues!! We’re almost done. Carl Sabath club treasurer is collecting
dues. Semiannual dues is due for those renewing their memberships for
April-September. Dues are $45. Reminder that $36 goes to TM International
and $9 goes to Helmsmen TM for supplies, holiday party, etc.

Reminder, you may still be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes. Things
change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the
Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in! You can
get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table Topics
Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
