Minutes for Meeting 2777, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, 9 April

1. SAVE the DATE: Tuesday, April 14, 2015 — Join us for the Division A
Contest at 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm — Kimberly Scott is the Model Speaker for the
Evaluation Contest. Come out and help support her as she gives her speech.
Location: 1700 N. Moore Street (Metro Bldg), Ste 830, Arlington, VA 22209.

2. May 1st/2nd — District 27 Spring Conference — Crystal City Marriot —
Washington Reagan National Airport, 1999 Jefferson-Davis Hwy, Arlington, Va On Friday, May 1st 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm is the
Evaluation Contest; Saturday May 2nd from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm includes the
International Speech contest — see information and tickets on website.

3. Lillian Wilkinson passed out a roles sheet for Helmsmen to fill in.

reaction without changing itself; a person who precipitates action

The directions are:

Getting to the Division contest on Tuesday 14 April 2015,

If coming by other than metro
1700 N. Moore St. occupies about a half a city block bordering Wilson Blvd.,
Fort Myer Dr., and N. Moore St. in downtown Rosslyn.
1. Enter building from Wilson Blvd., Fort Myer Dr. or N. Moore St.
2. For Wilson entrance, elevators are about 75 feet on the left (ATMs
will be on right); for the Fort Myer entrance (by the Café), the elevators
are about 30 feet straight ahead; and for the N. Moore entrance, the
elevators are about 15 feet straight ahead.
3. Take elevators to 8th floor.
4. Signs will direct you to room 830. There will be a Toastmasters
placard outside the room.

Coming from Rosslyn metro – escalators
1. At top of escalators, go to turnstiles on the left.
2. Turn left after exiting turnstiles.
3. Almost immediately on the right there is a short flight of stairs to
the building (double glass doors), which you go up.
4. After entering the building, go around the escalators (Panera will
be on left) and go through glass doors straight ahead.
5. Elevators are on the right.
6. Take elevators to 8th floor. Signs will direct you to room 830.
There will be a Toastmasters placard outside the room.

Coming from Rosslyn metro – elevators
1. After exiting metro elevators, cross N. Moore St. (the Rosslyn bus
depot occupies entire block).
2. Turn left (towards Wilson Blvd., Boeing Building).
3. The N. Moore St. entrance will be in between bus depot and Wilson
4. After entering the building, walk straight to elevators and go to
8th floor (room 830).


There is free street parking around the building/area. There are two
garages – 1550 & 1555 Wilson Blvd. – that have $5.00 evening rate parking.
Be aware that they may only take credit cards, so please be prepared.

If parking at 1550 or 1555 Wilson Blvd., walk down Wilson Blvd. (hill),
staying on the left side of the street, until you reach Ft. Myer Dr. The
building is on the northeast corner of Wilson Blvd. and Fort Myer Dr. After
crossing the intersection, you can enter the building at Wilson Blvd.
(between Fort Myer Dr. and N. Moore St.).

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
