Minutes for Meeting 2768, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday January
22, 2015

Welcome esteemed guest Latisha Ballance– we look forward to you becoming a
member of Toastmasters!


Herman Raybon reported that the spring speaking contest is coming up and the
spring conference will be the 1st-2nd of May where the club winners will
compete; the International Speech Contest this year will be in Las Vegas!
Start thinking about competing!!


Lillian Wilkinson was our Presiding Officer!

Katelyn Kuehl was our Opener!

Carmita Cooke was our Toastmaster of the Day with the theme: “Pets” complete
with everyone singing “Who Let the Dogs Out?” !!

Carl Sabath was the Wordsmith with the word of the
day: “Auspicious”, (adjective) meaning favorable; favoring success

Forte Ward was our Grammarian!

Herman Raybon was our Timer!

Katelyn Kuehl was our Listener!

Latisha Ballance was our Ballot Counter!

Forte Ward was our AH-counter!

Annika L’Ecuyer was our Tipster!

Katelyn Kuehl was our Closer!

Ernie Davis was our Table Topics Master

Forte Ward was our Master Evaluator!

Congratulate John Durish, Speaker 1, with his speech “Toastmaster
Advanced Manual Public Relations Project #2, The Persuasive Approach;
Evaluated by Trudie Root

Great marketing tips from our new VP for Public Relations– think of the 4
principles of marketing: Product (leaders create/formulate products and
services); Placement (think of physical and digital places to offer
products); Pricing (what will be the gain for the customer if he spends $$);
and Promotion (combine the former Ps to make events and sales auspicious);
Use the concept AIDA: attraction, interest, desire and action. “We are the
sales person”

Congratulate Table Topic Speakers: Katelyn Kuehl, John Durish, and Latisha
Balance !

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
