Minutes for Meeting 2766, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday January
8, 2015

Welcome esteemed guests Latisha Ballance and Kristen Handley!! We hope you
will come again soon.


1. Herman Raybon stated that TLI season has begun and club officers and
other members may attend any of the TLI trainings that are offered. An
updated list is attached.

Division A will have their TLI on 17 January 2015 at 0830 at Our Lady Queen
of Peace Church, 2700 19th Street South, Arlington, VA 22204.

President Annette Sanks mentioned all our current club officers should
attend TLI training in Jan or Feb to achieve President Distinguished Club
for 2015. It is imperative for club officers to plan early for which TLI
date they will attend.

2. Rhonda Bello, Area 11 Governor for Division A, District 27, CC,
Toastmasters International, inducted the officers for Helmsmen Club 2412 for
the term January 2015 to June 2015. The new officers are: President
Annette Sanks, Vice President Education Lillian Wilkinson, Vice President
Membership Elizabeth Femrite, Vice President Public Relations John Durish,
Secretary Trudie Root, Treasurer Carl Sabath and Sergeant-At-Arms Jerrick
Congratulations officers!

3. Following the induction of officers, President Annette Sanks gave a
to the membership stressing the goals of mentorship and growing the club.

4. Carl Sabath emailed members following the meeting that we have been
invited to host a table at the Di Lorenzo Heath Clinic Prosperity Fair, a
dedicated to improve careers, skills, leadership of the folks that work at
Clinic. It will take place Friday, January 16, 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. This
will be a joint venture with the Legacy TM club. If you have half an hour or

more next Friday, please let Carl know what time slot you are available so
that there is coverage for the allotted time period.

Carl Sabath was our Toast Master of the Day with the theme: “I’m Looking
forward to…”!

Forte Ward and John Harms shared the Wordsmith role with the word of the
day: “Imperative”, (adverb) meaning urgent; not to be avoided.

John Durish was our Grammarian!

Sheila Heyward-Snipes was our Timer!

Kristen Handley was our Listener!

Lillian Wilkinson was our Ballot Counter!

John Durish was our AH-counter!

Lillian Wilkinson was our Tipster!

Latisha Ballance was our Closer! (Latisha’s closing poem is attached)

Herman Raybon was our Table Topics Master (skipped to save time)

Katelyn Kuehl was our Master Evaluator!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
