Minutes for Meeting 2763, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday December 4, 2014
Welcome back esteemed guest Jacqueline Wrice !


1. Elizabeth Femrite announced that the Helmsmen Toastmasters Holiday Party
will be December 18, 2014 at 7:30 – 8:45 a.m. in the Pentagon Room number
2E579 (Annette Sanks area). We will have refreshments, and a full session
of Table Topics with a Holiday flair! Bring a gift of $10 or less, or bring
a re-gift to exchange. Elizabeth will have extra gifts so guests may also
join us.

2. Carmita Cooke reminded everyone of the offsite party at her home.
Guests are welcome. There will be a series of Reindeer Games; please come
at 6:00 p.m. and bring a dish. Please email Carmita with any questions.

3. Carl Sabath stated that the Club will have Officer Elections this month!
We will elect officers for a term of six months. Carl encouraged everyone
to consider running for office. Officers gain credit toward Advanced Leader
and being part of the Executive Council provides a forum for being part of a
team. If you are interested in holding a position, please contact Annette
Sanks or any one of the current officers; current officers will also explain
duties if needed.

Description of officer positions:

–As president, you are responsible for providing the supportive club
environment members need to fulfill their self-development goals, making
sure that members benefit from the Toastmasters educational program, and
helping the club recruit new members and retain current ones.

Vice President Education
–As vice president education, you are responsible for providing and
maintaining the positive environment and the programs through which members
can learn and grow. If you do your job well, your club will have satisfied
members and will continue to grow.

Vice President Membership
–As vice president membership, you are responsible for building membership
and ensuring a strong membership base by satisfying the needs of all
members. Your efforts contribute to the success of the club.

–Vice President Public Relations
As vice president public relations, you are responsible for coordinating an
active public relations and publicity program. Your job is vital to the
growth and success of the club; your efforts help to attract new members.

As treasurer, you are responsible for keeping clear and accurate financial
records of club business and for seeing that the club remains financially

As secretary, you are responsible for keeping clear and accurate records of
club business, including membership records and correspondence with
Toastmasters International’s World Headquarters and others.

–Sergeant at Arms
As the sergeant at arms, you are responsible for maintaining club
properties, arranging the meeting room and welcoming members and guests at
each meeting.

4. On behalf of Herman Raybon, Jr.–
TLI training for officers will be held from December to February at various
locations. Division A Governor, TM Herman Raybon as well as the Area
Governors are still hopeful to get Fairlington on January 10th for the
Division A TLI. Listed below is what is on the books for now.

Elizabeth Femrite was our Table Topics Master with the theme “Routines for

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
