Minutes of Meeting 2759 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Thursday 30 October

Welcome esteemed guest Steven Bell, !

Club Business:

1. Helmsmen Toastmasters held an Open House at the 30 October meeting.
Refreshments were provided for all.

2. Lillian reminded everyone of the District Conference 1 November 2014 at
the Radisson Hotel Largo in Upper Marlboro, MD. Cost is $100 the day of the
event. Kimberly Scott will be competing again — Go Kimberly !!

3. Ryan Harrell and Elizabeth Femrite mentioned that they are awaiting
approval to set up publicity tables (including the lectern) on November 5 at
the Apex of Corridors 9 and 10 on the second floor. Please get in touch
with Ryan and sign up for a 1/2 hour slot or longer to pass out flyers and
sign-up sheets.

4. Ryan Harrell announced that he will PCS soon to Andrews Air Force Base
and asked that members consider signing up for the role of Vice President
for Public Relations.

Carl Sabath was our Toast Master of the Day with the theme
“Halloween” !

Katelyn Kuehl was our Wordsmith with the word of the day: “xenophobia”
Meaning: fear of and hatred of strangers or foreigners (noun)!

Forte Ward was our Grammarian!

Ryan Harrell was our Timer!

Ryan Harrell was our Listener!

Steven Bell was our AH-counter!

Elizabeth Femrite was our Ballot Counter!

Elizabeth Femrite was our Tipster!

Elizabeth Femrite was our Closer!

Lillian Wilkinson was our Table Topics Master !

Forte Ward was our Master Evaluator!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
