Minutes for Meeting 2754, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday
September 25, 2014

Club Business:

1. Presiding Officer Annette Sanks congratulated Area Contest 1st place
winner Kimberly Scott for the humorous speaking category and to 2nd place
winner Elizabeth Femrite in the Table Topics category.

2. SAVE THE DATE: The Division A District 27 Contest will be held Tuesday,
October 14 at the Bloomberg BNA site in Crystal City and Kimberly will be
competing. Volunteers are welcome to assist with the contest. Free parking
is across the street and Metro access is nearby at the Crystal City stop.

3. Herman Raybon stated the District Conference will be 1 November 2014 at
the Radisson Hotel Largo in Upper Marlboro, MD. Cost is $75 until October
13; $90 from October 14-31; $100 the day of the event. The keynote speaker
is Craig Valentine who is an excellent presenter and has a website

4. Jill Shanteau shared that she will be on leave as of October 15 and needs
a replacement for the Mentor Chair. If you are interested in taking this
role, please contact Jill for information/training.

5. Dues may be paid this September to Elizabeth Femrite or to Herman Raybon
as Treasurer Carl Sabath is now at the Mark Center.

Carmita Cooke was our Wordsmith with the word of the day: “Depose”
Meaning: swear, testify, attest to; to overthrow (verb)!

Elizabeth Femrite was our Timer!

Ryan Harrell was our Listener!

Forte Ward was our AH-counter!

Trudie Root was our Ballot Counter!

Carmita Cooke was our Tipster!

Jill Shanteau was our Closer!

Jill Shanteau was our Table Topics Master !

Jerrick Alexander was our Master Evaluator!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
