Minutes of the Helmsmen Toastmasters Humorous Speech Contest 18 September
2014

Congratulations Kimberly Scott! Our Humorous Speech Contestant for today.

Welcome our Guest Nikki Irvin! We hope you join our club!

Club Business:

1. President Annette Sanks stated the winner of the Helmsmen Toastmasters
Club Humorous Speech Contest will compete in the Area contest Monday,
September 22, 2014. Plan to support Kimberly Scott in the Humorous Speech
contest and Elizabeth Femrite in the Table Topics contest.

–Area 11 Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest Coming Up — Mark
Your Calendars – Monday, September 22, 5:30pm Bloomberg BNA, opposite the
Crystal City Metro Station; POC: Area Governor Rhonda Bello:
Rhonda.bello1@gmail.com There is a $7 fee for food/drink.

–Division A Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests – Mark Your
Calendar for Tuesday October 14, 6pm Bloomberg BNA, opposite the Crystal
City Metro Station; POC: Division A Governor Herman Raybon is the host.
Volunteers are needed, contact to Herman Raybon (email:
herman.raybon@navy.mil). Support Area 11 Contest Winners at the Division A
Contest and watch them compete against other Division A- Area contest
winners. There is a small fee for food/drink.

–District 27 Conference (to include the Humorous Speech and Table
Topics Contests – Saturday, November 1! More information will be given once
details are known.

2. Carl Sabath is collecting dues this month and thanks everyone who paid
dues and reminds members to pay dues by 30 September 2014. Elizabeth
Femrite and Herman Raybon are helping Carl Sabath collect dues as Carl is in
the Mark Center building.

3. VP Member Elizabeth Femrite stated today 1200-1300 Thursday September 18,
2014, Helmsmen Toastmasters club will give a demonstration meeting to the
members of the Blacks in Government (BIG) Pentagon Chapter in the PLCC.
Please contact Elizabeth Femrite or any of the officers if you are
interested in participating in the demo meeting. Helmsmen are also welcome
to attend and support the demo meeting.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, and Table
Topics Master, Timer, and many of the other duties. During or immediately
following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program — The more we do as individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
