2014-02-20 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2723 Minutes

Welcome our newest Helmsmen Club members Jeanette Whaley and Deborah Blockett! Great Helmsmen say, “Yes!”.

Congratulations to TM Jerrick Alexander on his grand debut role as TMoD. Well done Jerrick!!


1 Helmsmen Club contests: Evaluation Contest is scheduled for March 6, 2014 and the International Speech Contest is scheduled for March 13, 2014. There will be many roles to fill for both contests at the club, Area and District levels and you could receive credit for CL requirements. If interested please see Elizabeth Femrite or Carl Sabath.

2 Upcoming 2014 Spring Area 11 Contests scheduled for March 27 and May 3, is the District contests. All members are encouraged to save the date and compete in the contests. Additional details regarding time and location for the Evaluation Contest and International Speech Contests will be provided.

3 District 27 Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)/Club Officer Training. Please see attachment for details. It’s Free professional training and open to all Toastmasters. All new Club Officers will need to attend the Core Officer Training. Please contact Carl Sabath, Herman Raybon, or Lillian Wilkinson if you have questions.

4 Treasure report was provided by our Club Treasurer Carl Sabath. Each attendee was provided a copy of the budge spreadsheet.

5 Bert Romero provided an update on the evening Pentagon Club. They only need 4 more members before having enough members to Charter a Club. He also, thanked Carlos Arzeno, Elizabeth Femrite, Jerrick Alexander, Herman Raybon and Carl Sabath for helping and attending meetings.

6 Next Helmsmen Club meeting is scheduled for February 27, 2014, in the PLCC. TM Ryan Harrell will serve as our TMoD. Please use easy speak to sign up for a role.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club
