2014-01-30 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Meeting 2721 Minutes

January 30, 2014

We thank Ernie Davis, our guest, for attending and hope he will decide to
become a Helmsmen Toastmaster!

Business:

1 Next Helmsmen Club meeting is scheduled for February 6, 2014, in the PLCC.
Steve Hill will be the TM of the Day and John Harms will be the Master
Evaluator.
Please use easy speak to sign up for a role or contact TMoD. Remember to
use all tools at our disposal for communication: Telephone, email and
helmsmen.easy-speak.org to assist with planning for upcoming meetings!

2. Toastmasters Leadership Institute training — All officers should attend
so that our club gets Training credit toward the Distinguished Club Program
and we achieve Golden Toaster status (having all 7 officers trained during
both summer and winter TLI’s 🙂 Attached is the training schedule. In
most cases, you don’t need to pre-register, you can just show up.

3. March 6, 2014 — Save the Date — Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
Evaluation Contest. Reminder that ALL club members are
Available to participate as long as they are members in good standing.
Leadership opportunities available for Chairperson and Contestmaster will
give you credit toward your Competent Leader as will being an Evaluation
Contestant. Check out the attached rulebook.

4. March 13, 2014– Save the Date — Helmsmen Toastmasters Club
International Speech Contest. Reminder to be eligible, you must be a
member in good standing AND have presented 6 speeches . Again opportunities
abound for knocking off some of those Competent Leader goals as well. Check
out the attached rulebook.

5. Area 11 Governor Herman Raybon, Jr announced the Area 11 Governor
position will be open effective July 2014. (Note: The material provided
last week was actually for Division Governors as well as District Governor,
Lieutenant Governor Education and Training and Lieutenant Governor Marketing
positions.)

6 New Club Officers for Jan 14 to July 2014 were installed by our Area 11
Governor Herman Raybon, Jr. at the January 23rd meeting. The new club
officers are:
President, Damien Butler; VP-Education Lillian Wilkinson; VP-Membership,
Kimberly Scott; VP Public Relations Annika L’Ecuyer; Secretary, Annette Sanks;
Treasurer, Carl Sabath; Sergeant-At-Arms, Yash Sinha.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.
Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!
You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club
