Minutes for Meeting 2715, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday,
December 5, 2013.

Welcome our guest Richard Santiago and Deborah Blockett and hopefully future Toastmasters!!


1 Herman Raybon announced and reminded members of the District 27
Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)/Club Officer Training ,
December 7, 2013 @ 8:30am – 2:00pm, Fairlington Community Center
3308 South Stafford Street Arlington, Virginia 22206. It’s Free professional training
and open to all Toastmasters. Herman stress new Club Officers will need to attend.

2 Sponsoring, Mentoring, Coaching a Club Workshop: Sunday, December 8, 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM (Registration)
and 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Training with 15 minute breaks between sessions 6:00 PM – Lite refreshments will be
served Arlington Central Library (Arlington, Virginia) 2nd Floor, Glass Room 1015 N. Quincy Street Arlington, VA 22201 Metro: Virginia Square (walk 0.2 mi.)

Starting From Scratch – How to Sponsor New Clubs – Instruction for new club sponsors to help them
develop strong new clubs. Mentoring a New Club Mentoring Matters – Present new club mentors
with the knowledge they need to provide a strong foundation for new clubs. First Class Club Coach –
A comprehensive guide for preparing and presenting an effective training session for club coaches.

3 Holiday Party! Our party will be held 19 Dec., 2E579. Elizabeth Femrite is the POC.
If interested in assisting with the party please contact Carl Sabath or Elizabeth Femrite.

4 Fall Membership Contest will continue through our December 19 meeting.
Members are asked to bring guest to our weekly meeting. The Helmsmen Club
member with the most guest to join our Club will receive a $25 gift card.

5 Club Officer Nominations are open for the January-June 2014 period. If
you are interested in serving as an officer please talk to one of the
current committee members. If you are uncertain about holding a position,
you can work with the officer to learn more about the position.

6 Bert Romero thanked several Club members for assisting with the new Club in Pentagon! The Club meets on
Tuesdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., they have held 14 meetings and meet in the Pentagon’s main
food court area near the Dunkin Donuts. Please help spread the word.

7 Remember no meeting scheduled for Dec 26, and Jan 2. Please mark your calendars.

8 Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Dec 12, 2013 at 7:30am in room B7
of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center. Eugene Burrell will be the
Toastmaster of the Day.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club
