Good Afternoon Helmsmen Toastmasters,

Minutes for Meeting 2710, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, October 24, 2013

Our next Jill Shanteau will be the Toastmaster of the Day, 31 Oct with the theme “Happy Halloween”. Please support her in the role!

Business:

1. Jill Shanteau, VP Education, asked us to use Easy-Speak to indicate meeting attendance and volunteer for meeting roles. Attached is the Easy-Speak guide and go to http://easy-speak.org/ to access the site.

2. Elizabeth Femrite, VP Membership, announced the Fall Membership Drive meeting, 7 Nov, 7:30-8:45 a.m., Pentagon Main Food Court/Cafeteria.

3. Fall Membership Contest starts today. Members are asked to bring guest to our weekly meeting. The Helmsmen Club member with the most guest to join our Club will receive a $25 gift card.

4. Fall Toastmasters Contest Information. The winners of the Division A Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest will compete in the District 27 Fall Conference Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. Crowne Plaza National Airport 1480 Crystal Drive Arlington, Virginia 22202 and go to http://www.d27tm.org, for registration and other information.

5. Lillian Wilkinson, advised no meeting scheduled for Nov 28, Dec 26, and Jan 2. Please mark your calendars.

6. Lillian Wilkinson, announced our Holiday Party will be held 19 Dec. If interest in serving as the POC for the party please contact Carl Sabath or Lillian Wilkinson.

7. Burt Romero, reported the new Pentagon evening club is in full swing. The time of the meeting is now Tuesday, 5:15 – 6:30 p.m.

8. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Oct 31, 2013 at 7:30am in room B1 of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center. Jill Shanteau will be the Toastmaster of the Day.

Joan Evans was our Wordsmith with the Word of the Day — “Countermand” to revoke, cancel, reverse.

Luke Lisell was our Ah-Counter!

Carlos Arzeno was our Timer!

Jerrick Alexander was our Listener!

Luke Lisell was our Ballot Counter!

Yash Sinha was our Tipster

Carlos Arzeno was our Closer!

Carl Sabath was our Table Topics Master!

John Durish was our Master Evaluator!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.
