Good Afternoon Helmsmen Toastmasters,

Minutes for Meeting 2709, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, October 17, 2013

Business:

1. Congratulation to Herman Raybon, Jr, for receiving his ACB — Advanced Communicator Bronze award. Way to go Herman, you’re making us all very proud!

2. Jill Shanteau, VP Education, asked us to use Easy-Speak to indicate meeting attendance and volunteer for meeting roles. Attached is
the Easy-Speak guide and go to http://easy-speak.org/ to access the site.

3. Division A Contests –October 23, 5:30pm, at Bloomberg BNA Office, in Crystal City, VA

4. Fall Toastmasters Contest Information. The winners of the Division A
Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest will compete in the District 27
Fall Conference Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. Crowne Plaza
National Airport 1480 Crystal Drive Arlington, Virginia 22202 and go to
http://www.d27tm.org, for registration and other information.

5. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Oct 24, 2013 at 7:30am in room B1 of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center. Elizabeth Femrite will be the Toastmaster of the Day.

Toastmaster of the Day was Lillian Wilkinson, with the theme “Animation”!

Annika L’Ecuyer was our Wordsmith with the Word of the Day — “Granularity” Composed or appearing to be composed of granules or grains. Also, Granularity is usually used to characterize the scale or level of detail in a set of data.

Damien Butler was our Grammarian!

Carmita Cooke was our Ah-Counter!

Ryan Harrell was our Timer!

Yash Sinha was our Listener!

Carlos Arzeno was our Ballot Counter!

Carl Sabath was our Tipster

Lillian Wilkinson was our Closer!

Annette Sanks was our Table Topics Master!

Jill Shanteau was our Master Evaluator!

Congratulate Jerrick Alexander, Speaker 1, with his speech, “Go Straight & Turn Left”, CC Speech #5 Your Body Speaks, Evaluated by John Durish.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM
of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following
the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in
your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals
our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club
