Hello Toastmasters!

Minutes for Meeting 2691, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Welcome to our guest, Ryan Harrell! We hope you will consider joining our Club!


1. Helmsmen Toastmaster and current District 27 Evaluation Champion, Carlos Arzeno, is soliciting [your] input for material as he prepares a presentation for speech evaluations. Please contact Carlos directly with your thoughts/ideas.

2. The Slate of Club Officers for 1 July – 31 December 2013 was approved at Meeting 2689, May 23, 2013:
President – Damien Butler
Vice President – Mike Quashne
Vice President Membership – Elizabeth Femrite
Vice President Public Relations – Annika L’Ecuyer
Secretary – Annette Sanks
Treasurer – Carl Sabath
Sergeant-at-Arms – Yash Sinha

3. Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) provides a free training curriculum that is required for all Toastmasters Club Officers. Of course, any member with an interest in leadership can attend these sessions for free as well! Although we are in District 27, you can attend any of the other District’s training sessions noted in the attached TLI document.

4. Easy Speak – It’s easy, see the attached guide and try it here…………

5. Stephanie Pettway will be Toastmaster of the Day next week, Thursday, June 13, 2013. We will meet at 7:30am in room B3 of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.

Amp Harrell was Wordsmith with the Word of the Day — “Precipitous” – Done rashly: acting too quickly and without sufficient thought.

Ryan Harrell was our Grammarian!

Amy Hunt was our Ah-Counter!

Jerrick Alexander was our Timer!

Carlos Arzeno was our Listener!

Jill Shanteau was our Ballot Counter!

Scott Battle was our Tipster!

Samay Thaboun was our Table Topics Master!

Yash Sinha was our Master Evaluator!

Congratulate Tim O’Neil, Speaker 1, with his speech, “Divine Intervention,” Project 1 – The Entertaining Speech from The Entertaining Speaker Manual of the AC Series, Evaluated by John Harms.

Congratulate Damien Butler, Speaker 2, with his speech, “I Don’t Run for the Train,” Project 3 – Make Them Laugh from The Entertaining Speaker Manual of the AC Series, Evaluated by Annika L’Ecuyer.

Table Topics speakers were Katie Dawson, Elizabeth Femrite, Scott Battle and Ryan Harrell.

Katie Dawson was our Closer!

Best Speaker was Damien Butler!

Best Evaluator was John Harms!

Best Table Topics Speaker was Ryan Harrell!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals our Club achieves. If you go to Club Central and go to Distinguished Club Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for Helmsmen Toastmasters club
