Hello Toastmasters!

Minutes for Meeting 2689, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Thursday, May 23, 2013.

Congratulations to Yash Sinha on completing all requirements for his Advanced Communicator Bronze award!

Our achievements toward becoming better speakers and leaders has placed Helmsmen Toastmasters in the President’s Distinguished Club category. Congratulations to all!

Welcome to our guests, Jalissia Carr, Chasio McDaniels, Jerrick Alexander and Manny Pineiro! We hope you will consider joining our Club!

Business:

1. Membership Drive was held yesterday in the main food court area of the Pentagon. Thanks to our VP-Membership, Elizabeth Femrite for spearheading and to all who assisted and participated.

2. The Slate of Club Officers for 1 July – 31 December 2013 was approved:
President – Damien Butler
Vice President – Mike Quashne
Vice President Membership – Elizabeth Femrite
Vice President Public Relations – Annika L’Ecuyer
Secretary – Annette Sanks
Treasurer – Carl Sabath
Sergeant-at-Arms – Yash Sinha

4. Carlton Hart will be Toastmaster of the Day next week, Thursday, May 30, 2013. We will meet at 7:30am in room B7 of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.

Congratulate Bert Romero, Speaker 1, with his presentation as TMoD, Project 5 – “Introduce the Speaker” from the Specialty Speeches Manual of the AC Series, Evaluated by Carl Sabath.

Congratulate Annette Sanks, Speaker 2, with her speech, “Keys to Happiness,” Project 4 in the CC Manual, Evaluated by Yash Sinha.

Congratulate Eugene Burrell, Speaker 3, with his speech, “Economics 101-Part 1,” Project 2 in the CC Manual, Evaluated by Jill Shanteau.

Congratulate Herman Raybon, Speaker 4, with this speech, “Live, Laugh, Love – The Lessons,” Project 2 – Uplift the Spirit from the Specialty Speeches Manual of the AC Series, Evaluated by Forté Ward.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During or immediately following the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The more we do as Individuals, the more goals our Club achieves.
