Hello Toastmasters!

Minutes for Meeting 2678, Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412, Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

Today we hosted our International Speech Contest. Congratulations and thanks to all participants for a successful contest!
Great job by Amy Hunt and Kevin Kloeppel for their coordination and execution of the contest!

Mike Quashne took 1st place!

Steven Hill took 2nd place!

Yash Sinha took 3rd place!

Our Club winners, Mike Quashne (Speech Contest) and Carlos Arzeno (Evaluation) will compete at the next level in the Area contest to be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Aurora Hills Community Center, 735 South 18th Street, Arlington, VA 22202, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Plan to come out and support Mike and Carlos!

Business:

1. CONGRATULATIONS to Annika L’Ecuyer on her selection for promotion to Senior Master Sergeant, USAF!

2. Dues! Carl Sabath the club treasurer, will be collecting semi-annual dues for the April thru September period. Elizabeth Femrite and Herman Raybon, Jr. will help collect dues if you cannot get a payment to Carl Sabath during a scheduled Toastmasters meeting.

3. Save the date – Saturday, May 4, 2013!!! It’s the 2013 District 27 Spring Conference at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center 5000 Seminary Road, Alexandria, VA 22311. The District Conference is an exciting educational and networking event for all District 27 Clubs and Members. See the attachment for Conference Flyer, Invitation, and Registration information.

4. Our next meeting will be in room B10 of the Pentagon Library and Conference Center, Thursday, March 14, 2013.

Steve Hill’s speech was “The Middle of Your Mist”

Yash Sinha’s speech was “Deadly Air”

Scott Battle and Forte’ Ward were Timers!

Carlos Arzeno was Chief Ballot Counter!

Annette Sanks was Assistant Ballot Counter!

Great Helmsmen say “Yes!”

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot Seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often, so when you are ready to give your speech, let the TM of the Day know even if you are not scheduled. We can always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics Master, Timer and many of the other duties. During the meeting or right after, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.
