2012-12-13 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2667 Minutes

December 14, 2012

Good Afternoon Toastmasters,

Congratulate Shawn Jackson a new Toastmaster who joined the Helmsmen
Toastmasters club today. You’ve taken the first step to improving your
speaking, listening, and leading abilities.

Welcome guest Anthony “AJ” James. We hope you’ll decide to become a member.

January 2013 – June 2013 period are:

2. The holiday party will be held next Thursday December 20, 2012 during
our Toastmasters meeting 0730-0845 in room B7 in the Pentagon Library and
Conference Center. The format will be Table Topics “gift exchange”. We’ll
have catered food and encourage each person to bring a wrapped gift. The
gift can be a re-gift (aka white elephant) or something purchased for $10.00
or less.

3. Mike Quashne the VP Education is trying something new to help with
assigning roles for the meetings. Mike placed an assignment sheet by the
door and asked us to check our name and assigned role in the listed weeks
and make adjustments to the sheet. For example, if you plan to give a
speech you can add your name as a speaker or if you know you will be
unavailable to attend a meeting, you can cross your name off the list for
the week. Today was the first time we used this method and Mike will let us
know if the method works.

4. There will be no Toastmasters meeting Thursday 27 December 2012 and
Thursday 3 January 2013. We will meet again on Thursday 10 January 2013.
