2012-08-23 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2652 Minutes

Greetings Toastmasters,

Welcome guests Sandy Paolini and Andre Dancy. We hope you’ll decide to
become a member.


1) Mike Quashne our current VP of Education re-introduced himself to the
club as he has been on a temporary assignment for the past two months. Mike
requests that we bring our manuals to the meetings to have Mike sign off on
completed projects. You get credit for completed speeches; additionally,
you get credit for completing assigned roles such as Timer, Ah-Counter,
Grammarian, as well as many other roles. As Mike stated, “Your books get
the award.”

2) The Executive Officers met Wednesday 22 August 2012 and minutes will be
distributed as soon as they are complete.

3) Thursday, August 30, 2012 Herman Raybon, Jr. will be the Toastmaster of
the Day and Master Evaluator will be Miriam Michael.

Speakers on deck: Jill Shanteau, Lillian Wilkinson, and Royce Edington. If
you are ready to speak please advise Herman and he will fit you on the

4) We’ll meet in Room B7 on August 30 in the Pentagon Library and
Conference Center.

5) The Table Topics Contest and Humorous Speech Contest will be held in
September 6th and September 13, respectively. Our Table Topics Contest
Chair is Damien Butler and the Humorous Speech Contest Chair is Mike
Quashne. Step forward to be a contestant and notify Damien and Mike of your
participation. The contests are held during our normal club meeting time
and place. Please plan to attend.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.
