2012-07-26 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club Meeting 2648 Minutes

Good morning Toastmasters,

Welcome to our newest members Damien Butler and Jill Shanteau! We are glad
you decided to join!

Welcome guests Nicole Harley, Danielle Canterbury, Kim Winborne, and Alvina
Floyd. We hope you’ll decide to become a member.


1) Thursday, July 26, Jim Adams, ACB, ALB will be the Toastmaster of the Day
and Larry Curtin will be Master Evaluator.

Speakers on deck: Cindy Minnifield, Jennifer Mitchell, and Michael Quashne.

2) We’ll meet in Room B7 for August 2 in the Pentagon Library and
Conference Center.

3) On August 9, we will be hosting a breakfast meeting and providing a
lite-breakfast selection and beverages for everyone to enjoy. Please plan
to join us and guests are always welcome to attend.

4) We are looking for a Contest Master for the September Table Topics
Contest and Humorous Speech Contest we will be hosting. The role will help
fulfill one of the projects toward meeting the Competent Leadership (CL)
designation. Speakers will get credit toward their speeches for entering
the Humorous speech contest. The club pays for contest winners’ fees as
they go to the Area Contest. We will be talking about the speech contest at
the next meeting. Please contact any one of the officers for more

5) Carl Sabath, Herman Raybon, Jr., and Elizabeth Femrite met with Danielle
Canterbury and Sandrina Ray of InfoNet to discuss an InfoNet Campaign that
would splash on the InfoNet board. If you are unfamiliar with InfoNet it
provides a snapshot of a special event or message. We want to have some
fresh ideas to spark interest. Let us know your thoughts and ideas.

6) Bert Romero, CTM, CL is filling in and leading our Mentor Program; if
you already have a mentor you’re happy with or you wish to change mentors or
you are new and you need a mentor, please let him know.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The More We Do as Individuals, the More Goals
Our Club Achieves. If you go to club central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club
