2012-07-05 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club 2412 Meeting 2645 Minutes

July 6, 2012

Good morning Toastmasters,

Welcome Nancy Fosbrook, a longtime Toastmaster and Andrea Clark, both whom we haven’t seen in a while.  We’re so glad you came.

1) Thursday, July 12, Bert Romero will be the Toastmaster of the Day and Sheila Heyward-Snipes will be Master Evaluator.

Speakers on deck:  Larry Curtin, Carlos Arzeno and Toni Pride.

2)  We’ll meet in Room B7 for the month of July in the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.

3)  Officers are Checking out the Toastmasters Leadership Institute and figuring out when they will attend their leadership training.  All members are invited to attend; it’s not necessarily just for officers.

4)  Bert Romero is filling in and leading our Mentor Program;  if you already have a mentor you’re happy with or you wish to change mentors or you are new and you need a mentor, please let him know.

5)  Bert is a busy guy.  He is backfilling our VP-E and is trying to put together a chart of where everyone is with their Speech and Leadership goals.

6) Evaluation Note:  Kudos to Miriam, a first time as TM of the Day, with everyone on board to keep things brief, we were able to get in 4 speakers and 4 evaluators!

7) Timing Reminder:  Speakers, table topics speakers and evaluators do indeed get a 30 second grace period.  So that 5-7 minute speech is in time from 4:30 – 7:30minutes, table topics are in time from 1-2:30 minutes and evaluations are good from 1:30-3:30 minutes.
