2012-04-05 Helmsmen Toastmasters Meeting 2632 Minutes

Good Afternoon Toastmasters,

Welcome guest for the second time Raquel Upshur! We
hope you’ll decide to join our club! We also thank you for being up for the challenge of participating in several meeting roles!

Business:

1) The Division A International Speech and Evaluation Contest will be held
on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the BNA 1801 S.
Bell Street Crystal City.  The winner will compete in the District 27 Spring
Conference contest to be held May 11-12 2012 at the Washington Navy Yard.

2) Next week we’ll meet in Room B1 of the Pentagon Library and Conference
Center.

3) Toastmaster of the Day for next week will be Elizabeth Femrite, our
VP-Public Relations.

Lillian Wilkinson provided the Opening

Herman Raybon, Jr. was Toastmaster of the Day with the dual theme “Easter
and April”

Stephanie Pettway, the Wordmaster, provided the Word of the Day — “Grouse”

Another guest was Listener

Congratulate Bert Romero, Speaker 1, with his speech “The Perfect Business”,
Advanced Manual Project #3, Speaking to Inform, evaluated by Lillian
Wilkinson.

Congratulate Mike Santivasci, Speaker 2, with his speech “Senior Drill
Instructor”, Competent Communicator Project #9, Persuade with Power,
evaluated by Dvija Malovic.

Table Topics Master was Carl Sabath

Table Topics Speakers were Mike Quashne, Lillian Wilkinson, Raquel Upshur.

Master Evaluator was Mike Quashne

Closing was Jennifer Mitchell

Best Speaker was Bert Romero!

Best Evaluator was Lillian Wilkinson!

Best Table Topics Speaker Raquel Upshur!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you
in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties.  Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.
