2011-12-01 Helmsmen Toastmasters Meeting 2616 Minutes

December 2, 2011

Good Afternoon Toastmasters,

Welcome returning guest Carolyn Washington.  We hope you’ll decide to join
our club!

Congratulate Jennifer Mitchell, our newest member to join Helmsmen TM!

Congratulate Jim Adams for achieving the Advance Communicator Bronze!

1)  Club officer positions:  The Sergeant-at-Arms position is still open and
if you are interest in holding this office, please let us know.  The term is
Jan-Jun 2012 (six months).  Free TLI training is provided for the officer
positions.  See attached link for updated training schedule

2)  Good news about our club!  The Helmsmen TM club has met the Select
Distinguished Club status for 2011-12 by meeting 7 of 10 goals!  If we meet
all 10 goals (3 more to go) we will be President’s Distinguished club for
the year.

3)  We’ll be having a holiday party at the 15 Dec 11 TM meeting.  The format
will be different as there will be no planned speeches; instead there will
be more impromptu speaking similar to Table Topics.  Everyone is invited to
bring a wrapped “white elephant” gift to exchange.  A gift is typically a
re-gift, a garage sale-type item, or something you no longer use and want to
give away.  The Table Topics will relate to the theme for the day and the
acquired gift.

4)  We will meet in the Pentagon Conference Center in Room B10 for 8 Dec 11
