2011-10-20 Helmsmen Toastmasters Meeting 2611 Minutes

Good Day Toastmasters,

Welcome Tyler Hawkins a second time guest.  We hope you’ll decide to join
our club!

Congratulate members who have achieved awards for program completion:

—  Sheila Heyward-Snipes for achieving the Competent Communicator award!

—  Lillian Wilkinson for achieving the Competent Leadership award!

—  Earl White for achieving (two awards!!) the High Performance Leadership
award and the Advanced Leader Silver award!

—  Carl Sabath for achieving the Advance Leader Bronze award!

District 27 Fall Conference:  Save the date to attend the District 27 Fall
Conference including District Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contests to
be held on Friday November 11 and Saturday November 12 at L’Enfant Plaza
Hotel, located at 480 ‘Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20024.  For more

Business:

1)  The Helmsmen TM Club has met 5 of the 10 goals to meet the Distinguished
Club.  If we meet 7 out of 10 goals we will achieve Select Distinguished,
which our club has met several times, and if we meet 10 out of 10 goals we
will achieve President’s Distinguished.  Club goals can be viewed on our

2)  Club Officer elections for the January – June 2012 term, will be held in
the November/December time frame.  To learn more about the club officer

3)  We will meet in Room B1 in the Pentagon Conference Center next week
Thursday 27 Oct 11.

4)  The assignment sheet is attached please check your roles for changes as
the sheet is updated weekly.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you
in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties.  Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your  leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The More We Do as Individuals, the More Goals
Our Club Achieves.  If you go to club central and go to Distinguished Club
