2011-10-13 Helmsmen Toastmasters Meeting 2610 Minutes

Good Afternoon Helmsmen,

Welcome to our guests Tyler Hawkins, Jennifer Mitchell, Forte Ward, and Alex
Ebel.  We hope you’ll decide to join our club!

Congratulate Herman Raybon, Stephanie Pettway, David Farquharson, and Mike
Quashne the newest Toastmasters to be inducted into Helmsmen’s TM Club 2412!

Division Contest Information:  The Division A Table Topics Contest is to be
held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 6:30pm, at the BNA Conference
Center, 1801 S. Bell St, Crystal City, VA.  Come out and support the
speakers, meet fellow TMs from other clubs, and enjoy the food (there is
usually a $5.00 fee for food.)

District 27 Fall Conference:  Additionally, the winner from Division A
contest will participate in the District 27 Fall Conference including
District Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contests to be held on Friday
November 11 and Saturday November 12 at L’Enfant Plaza Hotel, located at 480
‘Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20024.  More info to follow on d27tm.org.

Business:

1)  Club Officer Elections for the January – June 2012 term, will be coming
up in November/December time frame.  More to follow.

2)  We will meet in Room M3 in the Pentagon Conference Center next week
Thursday 20 Oct 11 and Room B1 on Thursday 27 Oct 11.

3)  The assignment sheet is attached; check your roles for changes as the
sheet is updated weekly.  Jim Adams is the VP of Education and does a fine
job of role assignment each week and keeping the sheet up-to-date.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you
in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties.  Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your  leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The More We Do as Individuals, the More Goals
Our Club Achieves.  If you go to club central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club.
