Good Afternoon Helmsmen and Most Welcomed Guests,

Welcome to our guests Herman Raybon, Stephanie Byrd, and Jonathan Watson.
We hope you’ll decide to join our club! We hope previous guests will also
decide to take the HELM! Smile

Toast Master of the Day for 1 Sep 2011 will be Jim Adams and Master
Evaluator will be Carl Sabath. Speakers scheduled are Sheila Lane, Mike
Santivasci, and Earl White.

Business: 1) A)Save the Date – September 8th – Contests

This will be the Helmsmen Club Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests.
All paid up members can compete in one or both contests. Let us know about
your participation as a contestant (most needed) and also as Contest
coordinator, chief judge, judge, timer/ballot counter, sergeant-at-arms All
members are eligible; all speeches need to be in the usual 5-7 minute
format (no shorter than 4.5 minutes and no longer than 7.5 minutes). And
all table topic responses need to be minimum 1 minute and no longer than 2.5
minutes.

B)September 21, the Area 11 Contests will take place at
Aurora Hills Recreation Center at Pentagon City.

2) Dues notices have been sent to all members. Renewing members pay $45
for October – March 2012

Note: Guests/New Members: Reduced membership dues: $68 will cover you from
August – March 2012 with Subsequent 6-month dues at the rate of $45. This
saves you $16 over new TM International dues increases. The $68 covers
books, TM magazine and club supply costs and special programs.

Speaker 1 was Andrea Clark, “For Such a Time as This” , Competent
Communicator Project
#6, evaluated by Jim Adams

Speaker 2 was Lillian Wilkinson, “Times Have Changed”, Competent
Communicator Project #4, evaluated by Carl Sabath

Speaker 3 was Jim Adams, “Extreme Weather – The New Norm”, Advanced Manual
“Speaking to Inform” Project #4, evaluated by Earl White

Table Topics Master was Carlton Hart

Table Topics Speakers were Carl Sabath, Jonathan Watson, Stephanie Byrd

Master Evaluator was Elizabeth Femrite

Closing was Jim Adams

Best Table Topics Speaker was Stephanie Byrd!

Best Speakers (a tie) were Lillian Wilkinson! and Jim Adams!

Best Evaluator was Jim Adams!

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you
in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The More We Do as Individuals, the More Goals
Our Club Achieves. If you go to club central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club.
