Good Afternoon Helmsmen and Most Welcomed Guests,

Welcome to our guests Carolyn Washington (2nd time), Jonathan Watson and Veronda Johnson. We hope you’ll decide to join our club! We hope previous guests will also decide to take the HELM! Smile

Congratulate Jim Adams on achieving his Competent Leader Award

Congratulate Beth Garcia on achieving her Competent Communicator Award

(As always, TM International will send out official certificates once paperwork is submitted! )

TM of the Day – will be figured out by tomorrow. On the schedule is TM Earl White for TMoD and
Elizabeth Femrite for Master Evaluator. Speakers scheduled are Jim Adams, Andrea Clark and Lillian Wilkinson.

Business: 1) A)Save the Date – September 8th – Contests

This will be the Helmsmen Club Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests.
All paid up members can compete in one or both contests.
Let us know about your participation as a contestant (most needed) and also as
Contest coordinator, chief judge, judge,timer/ballot counter, sergeant-at-arms
All members are eligible; all speeches need to be in the usual 5-7 minute format (no shorter than 4.5 minutes and no longer than 7.5 minutes). And all table topic responses need to be minimum 1 minute and no longer than 2.5 minutes.

B)September 21, the Area 11 Contests will take place at Aurora Hills Recreation Center at Pentagon City.

2) Dues notices will be sent out shortly to all members. Renewing members pay $45 for October – March 2012

Note: Guests/New Members: Reduced membership dues: $68 will cover you from August – March 2012 with
Subsequent 6-month dues at the rate of $45. This saves you $16 over new TM International dues increases.
The $68 covers books, TM magazine and club supply costs and special programs.

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of
the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you
in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics
Master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the Meeting or
during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small
evaluation in your leadership book.

Distinguished Club Program – The More We Do as Individuals, the More Goals
Our Club Achieves. If you go to club central and go to Distinguished Club
Program (DCP) reports, you can view the latest status of the goals for
Helmsmen Toastmasters club.
