2011-06-23 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club Meeting 2594 Minutes

Hi All,

Please congratulate Jim Adams, our VP, Education on achieving his Competent Communicator. With that, our club has achieved 8 of possible 10 goals in the yearly Distinguished Club Program.

Also note, that our club was awarded at the District 27 Conference not one but two $25 gift certificates that can be used in the Toastmasters bookstore. Congratulations everyone!

Next week, for Meeting 2595, June 30, 2011, your Toastmaster of the Day will be Elizabeth Femrite, we’ll be in room B10! Terry Bartholomew is scheduled to be Master Evaluator.

Elections are Coming. As a club that meets weekly, we choose officers for six-month terms. Our immediate Past President is scouting out officers for a slate and he discussed this during the business portion of the meeting. Being a club officer will develop your leadership in different ways. The officers are: President, VP Education, VP Membership, VP Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant at Arms. Remember Great Helmsmen Say, “Yes!”

Also officers are required to attend training so they get credit for their leadership positions. Free training will be available in June and July. Dates are listed below. Books and pdf files about positions are available as well.

7/23/2011 D29 TLI: Stafford County Courthouse

8/6/2011 D29 TLI: South County Government Center

(NOTE: Since the District has split into District 27 and District 29, remember folks can attend training and get credit at either as long as they sign name, club name, number 2412, and office they are training for. Folks who have attended before can attend other officer training or electives to get credit as well)
