2011-05-12 Helmsmen Toastmasters Club Meeting 2588 Minutes

Hi All,

Business:

Next week, for Meeting 2589, room B10: It’s time for a “Grab Bag” Meeting and the theme will be “Almost Anything Goes” and Carl Sabath will be the Toastmaster of the Day.

Rules for the Grab Bag Meeting:

The Grab Bag will pertain to everything except for the prepared speakers. At this time, the prepared speakers are listed as Todd Oja, Beth Garcia and Lilnell Small-Storm. However, if there are others that expect to be prepared to speak, let me know.

In this case, everyone else who will be at the meeting should be prepared to do one of the other roles except a prepared speech including opening, closing, word of the day, timer, ballot counter, listener, grammarian, ah counter, table topics master, master evaluator, or evaluator.

I will bring index cards so people can draw their roles. When you draw your role, if you get a role that you will find extra challenging or even a little challenging, you can exchange it with another person. In any case you will have to be prepared with an opening/closing, a word of the day, a grammar rule, perhaps even some questions for table topics.

What I need from you: Please
1) Prepared Speakers — scheduled or wanting to be — give me your speech title, objective, number, book name, and any information about what has been challenging for you or do you rise to the occasion under pressure Smile

2) Everyone else — let me know whether you expect to participate at the meeting (unless you’ve already told me)

Other business
District 27 Conference will be 13 and 14 May— see the website d27tm.org — expect to have fun!
This will include an historic meeting splitting the district into 2; the official start of the new district to start in July. Here great international speeches and evaluations!

Meeting Assignments Tracker and Syllabus Tracker. Jim is out of pocket for a few weeks, I will work with Bert to try to put an updated schedule together.

Roster Updates: Please let Carl Sabath know if your email, address info or telephone numbers have changed.

Great Helmsmen say “YES!”

Remember that you can always be on the “Hot seat” for last minute changes.

Things change often so when you are ready to give your speech let the TM of the Day know even if you aren’t “scheduled.” We can almost always fit you in!

You can get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the Meeting or during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small evaluation in your leadership book.
