2010-05-06 Helmsmen Toastmasters Meeting 2540 Minutes

Our meeting was led by Earl White, President and TM of the Day. His
Theme was “Mother’s Day”

Earl White provided the Opening and the Closing

Word of the Day: HALLMARK was provided by Andrea Clark

Grammarian/Ah Counter was Andrea Clark

Listener was Leilani Lucas

Timer was Katrina Patillo

Speakers were Trudie Root “A Special Introduction” with her Icebreaker and
Ronald Tam with “Fast Food Healthy”, his 2nd speech, “Organize Your Speech”

Table Topics Master was Bert Romero

Master Evaluator was: Carl Sabath

Tips: Openings and Closings are important attention getters and leave the
audience remembering what you said. Also, signal the closing of your
speech with Mr./Madam Toastmaster.

Evaluators were Sheila Lane and Andrea Clark.

Lots of information below

1. Next week’s TM of the Day is Bert Romero
We will be in Room B-9, next Thursday, May 13.

2. New Schedule: Bert Romero, the VP, Education presented a new schedule
where he is assigning duties for each meeting. This is to help the TM of
the Day and to help spread the duties around.

Obviously if you really want to do a speech or some other duty to complete a
speaking or leadership project, please let the TM of the Day know.

The schedule is flexible. Help us plan and schedule our upcoming meetings.

Also, if you cannot fulfill a duty, please try to get another TM to fill
your duty.

3. TM of the Day Schedule – if you can’t fulfill this duty, let Bert Romero,

the VP-Education know

4. Don’t forget to bring in your Speaker and Leadership manuals. You can

Get credit for being Toastmaster of the Day, Evaluator, Table Topics

master, Timer and many of the other duties. Right after the meeting or

during the meeting, ask your fellow Toastmaster to provide a small

evaluation in your leadership book.

5. Guests

For those guests who wish to join in May, the dues are $50 which includes

your speaking and leadership books and your magazine subscription as well as

club dues. This covers you from April – September. In September all

renewing members pay $36 for October – March time frame.

5. Upcoming Contest Information

District 27 Conference

May 7, 6:30 – 10pm — Evaluation Contest

May 8, 8am – 6pm — International Speech Contest

6. Elections coming up!

We have 7 officers in the Club:
President, VP-Education, VP-Public Relations, VP- Membership, Secretary,
Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms.

Toward the end of May/ early June, we need to select new officers.
We will come up with a date.

It is for a 6-month period, July 1 – December 31.

You get credit toward your Leadership award.

Toastmaster Leadership institute training will be available and is free.
Officers are expected to attend.

You get a Officer Book (free) and

You have plenty of club mentors to help you.
